Procrastination

If I were a lesbian, I think I'd have a crush on Ashley Greene (aka Alice Cullen).
She's so striking!

Plus, I really like her hair.
I'm getting a haircut soon, and I'm SO tempted to get a cut like hers.

But I know I won't be able to go through with it.
I'm not THAT daring - and if it goes wrong   -   lets not even go there. Ugh.

Seriously unmotivated to work. Feeling so ill!
And there are stupid little bugs flying around in my room. Because I left the window open overnight.
Oops.

Quote of the Day: (I really like this one)
It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure,
to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting,
for in movement there is life,
and in change there is power.
-Alan Cohen

Musings

Quote of the Day:

Let go. Why do you cling to pain? There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday. It is not yours to judge. Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you from hope and love?

Faure.

Dans un sommeil que charmait ton image
Je rêvais le bonheur, ardent mirage,
Tes yeux étaient plus doux, ta voix pure et sonore,
Tu rayonnais comme un ciel éclairé par l'aurore;

Tu m'appelais et je quittais la terre
Pour m'enfuir avec toi vers la lumière,
Les cieux pour nous entr'ouvraient leurs nues,
Splendeurs inconnues, lueurs divines entrevues,

Hélas! Hélas! triste réveil des songes
Je t'appelle, ô nuit, rends moi tes mensonges,

Reviens, reviens radieuse,
Reviens ô nuit mystérieuse..

Mauritius.

Mauritius has to be the most beautiful place I've been on holiday. The sea is so clear you can swim out for miles and still see to the bottom - you can go kayaking out also and marvel at the sheer size of the mountains nearby, and the beautiful shore line. Though I've only been once, to Flic-en-Flac, and also visiting some family friends living in Black River, it was a really memorable holiday, and hopefully I'll go again someday.

I took this picture on the second last day, walking along the shore line for about two hours just by myself. I love holidays where I can get away from everybody, turn on my iPod and listen to some great music while taking in the beautiful scenery. I think the quote of the day today is really appropriate: walking along the shore and seeing the beautiful beaches, the magnificent mountains rolling into the sea, and the tropical greenery really took my breath away.

( )

Clock, stop your ticking.

Time, hold your breath.
Wait, in the moment of nothing
Yet meaning everything.
Hold onto something so precious, so delicate
That if you even contemplate, will disappear.
Passes
Passing
Past
Gone forever,
in one shuddering movement.

Quote of the day:
I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
-Maya Angelou

Keep that breathless charm..

Recently I've been listening to a lot of Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Norah Jones & the likes. Soft, crooning tones, with swing rhythms and soulful lyrics. I think slow jazz brings out the hopeless romantic in me. Sigh.

When I listen to those songs, I can literally picture myself in a beautiful long scarlet flowy dress, with the material plunging down to the small of my back (like the one Keira Knightley wears in the Coco Chanel advert), dancing in a magnificent ballroom, with a man in an elegant black suit holding me close in his arms, as we sway to Frank Sinatra's 'The Way You Look Tonight'. And in my mind it looks beautiful, and incredibly romantic.

But WHERE can you find all this nowadays? Gone are the days of balls, held for woman 'coming out' in society. Gone are the days of ballroom dancing and waltzing. Gone too is the incredible sense of fashion ladies and gentlemen once had. Now, "less is best". The more flesh revealed, the better the outfit. Even if there isn't much of an outfit anymore. If clothing continues to get skimpier and skimpier, eventually, we'll all end up permanently naked, like in a nudist village.

Enough of my ramblings: I just wish I had the chance to do something like that: to waltz with the man I love in a beautiful dress and romantic surroundings. Oh and some amazing heels. And stunning jewellry! And a hairstyle to die for! I've always wanted to do an intricate and ornate "up-do" with my hair, like Diane Kruger often does at movie premieres. Although more Leighton Meester style. But my ears are too big - or at least thats what I think anyway. And again - rambling. I'll stop now. But here's some wonderful songs which I love and bring out the inner hopeless romantic in me..

My Top 5 "Romantic" songs:

1. The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra
2. L O V E - Nat King Cole
(also the one on the Coco Chanel advert with KK. Although that was a version by Joss Stone.)
3. Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
4. Lost - Michael Buble
5. Fly Me to the Moon - Frank Sinatra

Footprints in the Sand

A few years back, one of my close friends painted a cushion (yes, a cushion) for my grandma. She's an artist of sorts, and amazing at it too. She painted a really beautiful poem onto the cushion, and I was just reminded of this poem right now. It just reminds me that even in the hardest of times, I'm not alone!

Last night I had a dream.
I dreamt I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to me, the other to the Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest
and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most,
You would leave me.

The Lord replied,
My daughter, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.

When will my reflection show..

Inside, there's a heart that must be free to fly..
That burns, with a need to know the reason why
Why must we all conceal what we think? How we feel?
Must there be a secret me I'm forced to hide..?
I won't pretend that I'm someone else, for all time

When will my reflections show, who I am inside...
